    Solvent Exposure Linked to Memory Loss

    Much was made of an article that came out at the end of May 2014, and for good reason.   Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology had just published a study indicating that “industrial workers exposed to solvents have a much higher risk of suffering memory loss and poor cognitive health later in life.”  This study included over 2,000 retirees who had been exposed to a variety of solvents.  There are several articles on line that can provide more detail and a good summary can be found following this link to Science Daily.

    Who’s Ready for Reshoring? Bringing Manufacturing and Coil Coating back to the United States

    In a call to action for US companies, Bill Simon, president of Walmart, promised to bring manufacturing back to the United States.  He pledged that within 10 years, $50 billion in goods would be “reshored”, creating thousands of jobs, lifting the economy, and giving a boost to national pride.  Reshoring, (also known as onshoring), can be defined as a reversal of outsourcing; the transfer of a business operation back to its country of origin.  We have been both reading more about this trend and seeing more of it with our customers.  What’s causing it and what does it mean for U.S. Manufacturers and their equipment suppliers?
